About CO2 Skin Resurfacing
The process of laser skin resurfacing uses energy to remove the top layer of skin and stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, the latest generation of FDA-approved CO2 lasers, corrects many cosmetic and dermatological skin conditions through a single procedure. Known as the anti-aging breakthrough of the century by professionals all over the world, this procedure combines the effectiveness of the laser skin resurfacing procedure with the safety of CO2 lasers to treat aging, scarred, discolored, and sun-damaged skin safely and effectively offering a reduced recovery period. During a consultation with Irvine, CA cosmetic surgeon Dr. Margueritte Bernett, you can find out more about this innovative procedure.
"Dr. Bernett was so wonderful. I couldn't believe how thoughtful she was to get to know me and in no way made me feel rushed or less important than her other patients. I was in for such a minor treatment and for her to make me feel important really made a difference. Wonderful woman with great energy."- M. / Healthgrades / Jul 19, 2018
"Dr. Bernett was amazing. I will now only go to her. She makes every patient feel like the most important patient and that so important. She also is very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail. I highly recommend going to her for any service that she provides. It's rare to have Dr really care about your well being and this is what separates? her from the rest."- M.M. / Yelp / Jul 18, 2018

"There are no words describe how it feels to be a middle-aged woman that worked my whole life & I feel like time has taken away my beauty. I decided to take some risks and look into the world of plastic surgery. I work in the beauty industry had to have seen a lot of facelifts and a lot of really bad but jobs I work personally with three high and local Newport Coast plastic surgeons and still was never impressed. When I met Dr Bernette she was such an intelligent , calm, aristocratic loving beautiful woman! After my exam I realized how genuinely sincere she was when she told me-genuinely how beautiful I was. I really believe her.... said there are a few things that she would do 'procedures' that she suggested ( that were non-surgical )that would erase the looks of stress and tiredness, that even when I had slept for solid 12hrs a night, would not go away! I have gained such an education from her about what I eat and how that I feel projects such an inner beauty to come out! With her expertise and some of the most non-invasive and non-painful injectables! Also the help of The products she chooses to inject , she has a wide variety of choices that are all-inclusive with Hydrolonic acid ( probably spelling it terribly) and collagen have all doubled my experience of looking the way I want to look! Dr. B is a healer. I'm a single mother looking to find a healthy relationship ... but Before Dr. B I had been held back, feeling that my outer appearance was no longer attractive. NOW I feel so much more confidence when I put my hand out to shake someone's hand or smile and I feel like I don't look like I haven't slept in three days LOL. Thank you Dr B into your amazing staff it's a game changer I would recommend her Procedures and techniques to anyone! Love & Light -Hxo"- H.H. / Yelp / May 19, 2018

Those with superficial wrinkles and fine lines around their eyes, mouth, or foreheads are ideal candidates for fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing. If you have shallow acne scars, you may also be a candidate. The following skin conditions can be treated with fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing:
- Acne scars
- Age spots
- Brown spots
- Discolored complexion
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Loose skin
- Sun-damaged skin
Fractional CO2 skin resurfacing is completed as an outpatient procedure and takes approximately 1 – 2 hours to perform depending on the size of the treatment area. A topical anesthesia will likely be applied and allowed to penetrate the skin prior to beginning the procedure. Additional or alternative anesthesia methods may be used depending on a number of factors, but will be discussed before your scheduled procedure. The laser treatment will take approximately 45 minutes to perform, during which controlled energy is used to vaporize the epidermis to allow for shedding and new growth.
What to Expect
As the treatment may cause discomfort, Dr. Bernett may prescribe the a pain reliever to be taken after the procedure. Your face will likely be bandaged after treatment. Because the epidermis will be peeled away, your skin may appear red for several weeks. As it heals, crusting may be present. Dr. Bernett will offer very specific advice on how to properly care for your healing skin, it is very important to follow her instructions to prevent any scarring. You will be able to return home immediately following treatment but should avoid vigorous activity for a couple of days while your skin heals.
